Hi! This is me, Laura the founder and owner of The Rustic Dresser. I’m not very good at having my photo taken hence either the very awkward smile or the “let’s look busy and important whilst trying not to notice the camera” face
So as you will be able to tell from looking though the pages, I am completely obsessed with weddings….rustic, natural and boho ones in particular. It’s strange though as thinking back, I was never one of those girls who dreamt of her big day and right through to my mid 20’s I never even wanted to get married! The fascination didn’t start until Matt and I got wed in May 2015 in a little village church with the reception at my parents-in-law farm just outside of Salisbury, Wiltshire.
Picture hay bales, giant cheese wheels, marquees, chickens, a hog roast and line dancing and that was pretty much our wedding! I created a 4 metre table using barrels and a huge piece of wood for the evening food. We went with rolls, olives, meats, cheeses, pickles and a big hessian sack full of kinder eggs….you can probably guess which was demolished first and after having lots of wonderful, positive comments, the idea came to perhaps see if other couples may want help recreating something similar.
At the time I was working as a part time restaurant manager and although I loved certain aspects, it just wasn’t what I wanted to do long term, plus the late nights were fast taking their toll. Fast forward to 2019 and here I am running TRD full time from our base in Westbury, Wiltshire all whilst juggling home life, being a football mum and also working for a local education trust.
Feel free to get in touch if you need help with styling your wedding, if you just want to hire some props or if you need someone to take charge on the day
